Vare-nr.: 050173 Compressor oils for natural gas and process gas compressors
Both synthetic and petroleum-based oils have their place in gas compressor applications. In cases where a synthetic lubricant is not needed or would constitute over-engineering, customers fear the presence of impurities common to many mineral base stocks. Those impurities can react with components of the gas stream to form by-products harmful to the compressor system.
Mineral oil based lubricants with some features comparable to the ones offered by fully synthetic oils
High viscosity index and low pour point lead to a large temperature range
Superior thermal and oxidative stability lead to longer lifetime compared to conventional mineral oils
Only trace amounts of impurities in comparison to other petroleum-based compressor oils

Special formulation inhibits corrosive effects of wet CO2 and H2S often found in gas compressor applications
