The review of the 2023 reporting year is also an opportunity for Klüber Lubrication to look to the future. Because we are proud of our ambitious goal of becoming largely CO2-neutral by 2045 - a milestone we want to achieve through cooperation with our customers and innovative solutions.
Our new report shows that we have made significant progress in reducing our carbon footprint over the years. Since 2019, we have achieved a remarkable reduction of over 78% in Scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions, underlining our proactive approach to environmental responsibility. Our measures in the much more extensive and therefore more important Scope 3, i.e. emissions along the entire value chain, are also showing success: since 2019, we have reduced our CO2eq emissions per tonne of product by over 10%, and cumulatively by over 14% for Scope 1 to 3.
We have also reached new milestones in our core competence of sustainably supplying our customers with the best speciality lubricants for them: proven energy savings of over 445,000 MWh with our Energy Efficiency Programme, new records with more sustainable outperformer products and now also automated tools for life cycle assessments. In the report, we explain how we are systematically developing these and other highlights.
Our successes have not gone unnoticed. In 2023 and 2024, Klüber Lubrication received prestigious awards such as the EcoVadis Gold Medal, as well as awards from prestigious organisations such as CEFIC, EUPD Research, or the Xceleration Days in China, which underline our leadership in sustainability.
