"GOLD" for sustainability third time in a row

Leading rating agency ranks Klüber Lubrication among the top five percent

Munich, 11 March 2024 - For the third time in a row, Klüber Lubrication has been awarded the "Gold Medal" by EcoVadis, a leading rating company for sustainability.  This makes the lubricant manufacturer one of the best five percent of approximately 130,000 companies rated worldwide. In the important category “Carbon Management”, Klüber was able to improve for the second time in a row and has now been upgraded to the highest level of “Leader”. The expert for specialty lubricants also continued to score clearly above average in the focal areas "Environment" and "Labour and Human Rights". EcoVadis is an independent rating platform that provides comprehensive assessments in the area of corporate social responsibility (CSR).

"Awards such as EcoVadis GOLD are very important to us, as they show our customers, employees and other stakeholders how seriously Klüber takes the issues of sustainability and responsibility - worldwide", explains Markus Hermann, Sustainability Manager at Klüber Lubrication. "We are particularly pleased about the Carbon Management rating of the highest level as "Leader", because as a company we are not only pushing forward our own climate action plan with great commitment, but are also increasingly supporting our customers in achieving their sustainability goals with our products and services. Together with our customers, we have been able to save around 4% of energy through energy efficiency projects since 2007, as several hundred measurements have proven.”

Multiple awards for sustainability

In the past year, Klüber Lubrication has been acknowledged twice for their efforts to improve environmental compatibility. In December 2023, Klüber Lubrication received the 'ESG Transparency Award' for outstanding performance in terms of the transparency and quality of their Sustainability Report. The ESG Transparency Award goes to organisations that are already on track towards more corporate social responsibility and have made forward-looking sustainability concepts part of their corporate strategy.

The European Responsible Care® Award, which Klüber Lubrication received in November 2023, is presented annually by Cefic, the European Chemical Industry Council. The market leader for specialty lubricants was recognised in the category “Climate Neutrality” for its project “Climate Protection by Solvent Replacement” and for its Climate Action Plan.

Further details on Klüber Lubrication's climate goals and their implementation can be found in Klüber's sustainability report, which is published every year in May:
