The reduction of energy consumption is a major challenge for industrial companies, both from an economic and ecological point of view. One element contributing to lower energy consumption is the use of high-quality lubricants matching the individual application. While their purchasing prices are higher than those of mineral oil-based lubricants, their total cost efficiency is significantly better, so at the end of the day they can help save not only energy but costs as well.
Klüber Lubrication has resolved to prove this beneficial effect: Emulating the energy saving contracting schemes known from the energy sector, the company has developed a straightforward and transparent payment system.
What's special about this new payment system is that the price payable depends on the actually measured reduction of energy consumption. In the early stage of the project, the customer therefore pays only a base price, which may well be considerably lower than the market price. Energy savings are measured at predefined intervals. Should such savings fail to materialise, the customer only pays the base price. If energy savings do become apparent, a variable sales price determined in advance is calculated on the basis of the energy savings attained.
