Brewery in India comes closer to their sustainability targets with a 5-6% energy savings in their worm gearboxes by switching over from mineral oil to Klübersynth GH 6-680, high-performance gear oil. The changeover resulted in an investment payback within 7 months. Apart from the energy savings, the brewery also realized higher re-lubrication intervals, fewer maintenance downtimes and improved productivity.
The brewery in case is one of the largest breweries in India. Their flagship beer brand, is sold all over the world. In one of these plants in India there are about 135 gearboxes - electric worm geared motors, which are operational in their glass bottle conveyor.
Klüber Lubrication has a long stand partnership with this group for many years and has provided various solutions to optimise the lubricant utilisation in their factory.
Over the years, the brewery was concerned with the increased cost of operations and increased energy consumption which was not in line with their sustainability initiatives. With energy costs going upward every year, this plant approached Klüber Lubrication to come out with a solution for reducing the energy consumption in these worm gear and at the same time improve the overall efficiency and productivity.

Klüber Lubrication did a thorough survey of the plant, observed the process parameters and captured all relevant details. After lots of study and discussions with the customer, Klüber Lubrication suggested the plant to changeover from their existing mineral oil-based gear oils to Klübersynth GH 6-680 gear oil. Klübersynth GH 6-680 is a synthetic high-performance gear and high-temperature oil based on polyglycol satisfying the growing requirements and increasing power density of modern gears. It includes KlüberComp Lube Technology*, i.e. it is based on especially high-grade raw materials and advanced additives, enabling maximum performance in the lubrication of all gear components.
After 24 hours of the running of gearboxes, the energy consumption was checked using a Fluke Energy meter. The brewery got the following benefits with Klübersynth GH 6-680:
