Efficient lubrication of rolling bearings extends maintenance intervals

Specially developed grease provides long-term protection against corrosion and wear

Rolling bearings in wind turbines are constantly subjected to extreme conditions: While generator bearings have to withstand high vibrational stresses, the roller bearings in other applications are faced with heavy loads and oscillating movements. Specifically for these demanding applications, Klüber Lubrication has developed the new Klüberplex BEM 34-131 N. The unique formulation of this product helps ensure reliable operation of wind turbines even under adverse weather conditions and over a wide temperature range. Also during downtime, Klübersynth BEM 34-131 N reliably protects the components against corrosion.

"Maintenance and servicing of wind turbines often has to be carried out under extremely adverse conditions, which can lead to several months of downtime," explains Thomas Jørgensen from Business Unit Wind Energy of Klüber Lubrication. "The new Klüberplex BEM 34-131 N helps extend service intervals and prolong component life. By using this speciality lubricant and thereby extending service intervals, the resulting savings from even one less inspection are more than the lifetime lubricant costs of the turbine."

In addition to the challenges of loads and vibrations, modern wind turbines also need a lubricant suitable for use in central lubrication systems. Due to its good pumbability and metering, the new Klüberplex BEM 34-131 N works very well with these systems.
