Collection of general details

When you access our website, certain general details are automatically collected. These details (called server log files) include your web browser and operating system, the domain name of your internet service provider, etc. All these details are data that do not permit conclusions about you as a person. We need these data for technical reasons, so that our webpages correctly deliver any content you request, and they are a necessary by-product when using the internet. Anonymous details of this kind are statistically evaluated by us with a view to optimising our website and the underlying technology.

Registration on our website

When you register for the use of our personalised services, we collect a number of personal data, such as your name, address and contact details, e.g. your phone number and e-mail address. Once you are registered with us, you can access our content and services which are only available to registered users. If needed, registered users may also at any time change or erase any of the data they specified when registering. Over and above this, you are welcome to request from us information on any of your personal data stored by us, and you may do so at any time. We will also be pleased to rectify or erase that data upon your request, provided that there are no statutory retention periods that might prevent us from doing so. To contact us on this issue, please use the contact details provided at the end of this data protection statement.

Commentary function

Whenever a user leaves a comment in the blog, we save not only the comment, but also the time when it was written and the username previously chosen by that website visitor. This is for our own security, as we may be held liable for illegitimate content on our website, even if such content has been created by users.

When you subscribe to our newsletter, the data you provide for this purpose will be used entirely for the purpose of your subscription. Subscribers may also be sent information by e-mail where this is relevant to the provision of our service or registration (e.g. changes to the newsletter subscription or technical matters).

To ensure effective registration, we require a valid e-mail address. To check that the owner of an e-mail address has really subscribed to our newsletter, we use a double opt-in procedure. This involves logging the subscription of a newsletter, the sending of a confirmation e-mail and the receipt of the reply we have requested. No other data is collected. The data is used exclusively for sending the newsletter and is not shared with third parties.

To keep improving our content, we record how and when you open the newsletter and which content you click.

You may withdraw your consent to the storage of your personal data and to its use for the newsletter subscription. Each newsletter contains a link for this purpose. You can also unsubscribe directly on this website or let us know your intention via the contact options specified at the end of this document.

Contact form

If you contact us by e-mail or via the contact form, any details you share with us will be stored for the purpose of dealing with your enquiry and for any further questions that may occur.

Use of Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. (hereinafter: “Google”). Google Analytics uses cookies, i.e. text files that are stored on your computer and which facilitate an analysis of your use of the website. The information about your use of this website generated by the cookie is normally sent to a Google server in the USA and stored there. However, if you have activated IP anonymisation for this website, your IP address will not be sent without first being truncated by Google within the member states of the European Union or other parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. The full IP address will only be sent to a Google server in the USA and truncated there in exceptional cases. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to analyse your use of the website, to compile reports about website activities and to provide further services associated with website use and internet use for the website operator. The IP address transferred from your browser within the framework of Google Analytics will not be kept together with other data of Google. You can prevent the storage of cookies by making the relevant setting in your browser software; please note, however, that in such a case you may be unable to make full use of all the functions of this website. You can also prevent the recording of data generated by cookies and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) at Google and if you wish to opt out of such data being processed by Google, you can download and install a browser plugin from the following link:

Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on

In addition or as an alternative to the browser add-on, you can stop Google Analytics tracking on our website by clicking this link. This has the effect of installing an opt-out cookie on your device. It prevents Google Analytics from any future collection of your data in relation to this website and this browser for as long as the cookie remains installed in your browser.

Use of Google Remarketing

This website uses the Remarketing function of Google Inc., a function which makes it possible to present interest-related advertisements to website users within the Google advertising network. A cookie is saved to the site user’s browser, enabling Google to identify this user next time they visit websites which are within the Google advertising network. Such websites may present visitors with advertisements that relate to content previously called up by them on websites which also use the Google Remarketing function.
According to information from Google, this procedure does not involve any personal data. Should you nevertheless wish to opt out of Google Remarketing, you can always disable it by making the relevant settings at http://www.google.com/settings/ads. Alternatively, you can disable the use of cookies for interest-related marketing through the advertising network initiative by following the instructions provided at http://optout.networkadvertising.org/#!/.

Social plug-ins
On our website we have implemented social plug-ins from the suppliers detailed below. You can recognise each plug-in by its logo.

These plug-ins may be used to send details, including your personal data, to the relevant service providers. They may then make use of your data. We prevent the involuntary and unwanted collection and transmission of data to such service providers through the use of a two-click solution. If you wish to activate a given social plug-in, you need to enable it by clicking the relevant button. It is only by activating this plug-in that you also trigger the collection of details and their transmission to the relevant service provider. We ourselves do not collect personal data via social plug-ins or through their use.

We have no influence on the data that are collected by an activated plug-in or on the way those data are subsequently used by the supplier. At the moment it must be assumed that a direct link to the services of a supplier will be extended and that at least the IP address and device-related details will be collected and used. There is also the possibility that service providers will try to store cookies on your computer. To find out which data exactly are collected and how they are used, please refer to the data protection statement of the relevant service provider. Please note: If you are simultaneously logged onto Facebook, Facebook may identify you as a visitor of a specific site.

We have placed social media buttons from the following companies on our website:
Facebook Inc. (1601 S. California Ave - Palo Alto - CA 94304 - USA)
LinkedIn Corporation (2029 Stierlin Court - Mountain View - CA 94043 - USA)
Twitter, Inc. (1355 Market Street, Suite 900, San Francisco – CA 94103 – USA)
XING AG (Gänsemarkt 43 - 20354 Hamburg - Germany)

Like many other websites, we use so-called cookies. Cookies are small text files that are copied and saved to your hard drive from a website server. This automatically gives us certain data, e.g. IP address, your browser, the operating system of your computer and your internet connection.

Cookies cannot be used to start programs or to put viruses on a computer. The information contained in cookies enables us to make navigation easier for you and to display our pages correctly.

When we collect data, we never share them with third parties or establish a link with your personal data without obtaining your consent.

However, you can always view our website without cookies. Internet browsers are regularly set up in such a way that they accept cookies. You can disable the use of cookies through settings in your browser at any time. To find out how to change such settings, please refer to the help function of your internet browser. Please remember, however, that some functions on our website may not work if you disable the use of cookies.

Google AdWords

Our website uses Google conversion tracking. If you have reached our website via an advertisement placed by Google, Google AdWords puts a cookie on your computer. The cookie is used for the purpose of conversion tracking whenever a user clicks on an advertisement placed by Google. Cookies of this kind lose their validity after 30 days and cannot be used for personal identification. If a user visits certain pages of our website and the cookie has not yet expired, we and Google know that the user has clicked on the advert and has been directed to this page. Each Google AdWords customer is given a different cookie. This means that cookies cannot be traced via the websites of AdWords customers. Details obtained through conversion cookies serve the purpose of generating conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have opted for conversion tracking. Such customers are told the total number of users who have clicked on their adverts and who have been redirected to a page carrying a conversion tracking tag. However, they do not receive information that might enable them to identify any users in person.

If you wish to opt out of conversion tracking, you can refuse the setting of such a cookie via a browser setting that generally disables the automatic setting of cookies. Or you can set your browser so that it blocks any cookies coming from the domain “googleleadservices.com”.

However, please remember not to delete opt-out cookies for as long as you wish to be exempted from the recording of the relevant tracking data. If you have deleted all the cookies in your browser, you need to set the relevant opt-out cookie again.

Use of Marketo lead tracking

Klüber Lubrication uses the marketing automation system of Marketo EMEA Ltd.,Cairn House, South County Business Park, Leopardstown Road, Dublin 18, Ireland, for the statistical analysis of user access. The system makes it possible to address you anonymously, yet individually, to suit your usage patterns. Marketo lead tracking involves cookies stored on the user’s computer and permits an analysis of that person’s use of the website. The information about the person’s site use is generated by a so-called Munchkin cookie and is sent to the Marketo server in Ireland, where it is stored. Arthrex uses usage data without your consent, but always uses them in an anonymous form and is unable to trace you as the user.

Any e-mails sent with the help of Marketo make use of tracking technology. We use this data primarily to find out which topics are of interest to you, and we do so by monitoring whether our e-mails have been opened and which links you have clicked. We then use those details to improve the e-mails we send you and the services we provide. You can prevent the processing of your data by disabling cookies in your browser software or by enabling the Do Not Track function.  If you do not accept cookies, you will not be able to use some of our services. Cookies generally enable us to find out who you are, so that we can offer you better and even more personalised services.

Your right of access and your rights to rectification, blocking, erasure and objection

You are entitled at any time to receive information about your personal data that we have stored in our systems. You are also entitled to the rectification, blocking and erasure of your personal data, although deletion may not be possible due to mandatory retention requirements for the purpose of business development. If you have any queries, please contact the data protection officer. You will find the relevant contact details at the bottom of this page.

To implement data blocking at any time, we need to keep this data in a blocking file for control purposes. You may also demand the erasure of data, provided they are not subject to a statutory archiving duty. If such a duty is applicable, we will block your data upon request.

You can make changes or revoke your consent with future effect by notifying us accordingly.

Changes to our data protection regulations

We reserve the right to adjust this data protection statement from time to time to ensure that it always meets the latest statutory requirements or so that changes to our services are also implemented in this data protection statement, e.g. for the launch of new services. Any new visit to our website will then be subject to the new data protection statement.
