High-performance specialty lubricants are necessary in today's marine sector. Standard lubricants quickly reach their performance limits in the face of extreme conditions aboard ships, and good environmental compatibility is essential. The new product portfolio from Klüber Lubrication includes environmentally acceptable lubricants (EALs) and consists of special greases for steel wire ropes and ATB coupling systems, high-performance synthetic gear oils and rolling bearing greases.
The new EAL Klüberbio AM 92-142 favorably impacts the offshore oil & gas industry, thanks to its exellent wear protection, exceptional adhesion and good water resistance. It reliably protects steel wire ropes against corrosion with superior wash off resistance even in deep waters. This VGP-compliant lubricant was developed and approved in close cooperation with the company Teufelberger-Redaelli, a leading manufacturer in the field of steel wire ropes, that recommends their products as "initial fill" lubricant and for the relubrication of their own high-performance steel wire ropes for offshore and underwater applications.
Klüberbio AM 12-501 is an adhesive EAL grease designed specifically for the large plain bearings, rams and connectors used in ATB coupling systems. This ATB lubricating grease meets ATB coupling systems OEM specifications for pumpability, resistance to water wash-out and spray off, corrosion protection and load carrying capabilities.
Awarded the EU Ecolabel, the high-performance synthetic gear oil Klüberbio EG 2-320 is comprised of around 90 percent renewable raw materials and is ultimately biodegradable. Ideal for harbor cranes, pod propulsion, pod steering gear and deck equipment, this EAL reliably protects gear teeth and rolling bearings against wear and premature failure even under high peak loads.
The new multipurpose EAL grease Klüberbio BM 32-142 provides excellent wear protection for rolling and plain bearings that are exposed to vibrations from diesel engines, propellers and wave motion. This synthetic low-temperature grease can also be used at Arctic temperatures and significantly reduces maintenance costs due to longer relubrication intervals and bearing services lives.
Klüber Lubrication Hydro Lubricants for other industries have recently been honored with the German Innovation Award in the "Material Surface" category for innovative technology as well as "Design Thinking" category for pioneering processes in development.
The benefits of hydro lubricatnts are obvious. They have the potential to meet the growing performance and energy efficiency requirements for lubricants as well as sustainability requirements since they are completely based on renewable raw materials.
