Mobility concepts: solutions for every drive system and vehicle type
High speeds, temperatures and forces as well as aggressive media: lubricants for engines and the drive train have to meet demanding requirements. New mobility is making this even more difficult: electrically powered cars, bikes, lorries, and buses – be it with battery, hybrid, or fuel cell technology – require innovative lubricant concepts.
As an example, drive design is becoming more compact as smaller, simplified gearboxes are used. This downsizing leads to increased heat generation and higher speeds.
Drive-by-wire technology has significantly expanded the area of application for actuators – particularly in steering, clutch and braking systems for electric or electrically assisted cars, bikes and commercial vehicles. When selecting a suitable lubricant for ball screws, direct steering response, low-wear operation at high load capacities and impact loads are all relevant.
