Klüber Lubrication Winner at the 2024 Duty of Care Awards

Commending organisations in ‘Leading Change for a Re-Imagined Future’, honouring dedication to protecting the health, safety, security, and wellbeing of global workforces

Klüber has been awarded Winner in the Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance category at the International SOS Foundation 2024 Duty of Care Awards. The award was given in recognition of Klüber’s programme under their climate-neutralising strategy, which led to significant CO2 and solvent emission reductions by a panel of judges. The Awards, which were announced at the Duty of Care Summit on 31 October 2024, honour organisations, institutions, NGOs, and individuals that have raised the standards of protecting the health, safety, security, and wellbeing of their people.

Judges reviewed entries from a wide range of industries, including leading technology firms and financial institutions to top-tier education and aerospace organisations, across 29 countries.

Jianting Chi, Sustainability Specialist of Klüber Lubrication China stated: “We are honoured to receive the 2024 Duty of Care Awards. As a professional lubricant company, the solvent project presented a significant challenge for us, but its success is the best proof of our commitment. While achieving green manufacturing, we are also dedicated to helping our customers reach their sustainability goals. Through energy-saving products, we have helped industries such as food, cement, mining, and textiles save a total of 55 GWh of energy this year, equivalent to a reduction of 30,000 tons of CO2 emissions in China. But it doesn’t stop there; other Klüber products also have substantial sustainable value, promoting the achievement of sustainability goals and fostering innovation across various fields.”

Kai Boschmann, Executive Director of the International SOS Foundation comments: “The escalating intersection of global threats requires innovative risk management strategies to protect people. In this challenging environment, our congratulations go to all our winners, runners-up, and highly commended entrants to this year’s Awards, as well as to all those who have shown unfaltering commitment to supporting their workforce. Our panel of judges1 had an abundance of best practices and innovations to assess. We do hope that the winners will show the way for others to elevate their own Duty of Care practices.”

Head of Judges, Deborah de Cerff, Founder of The Employee Mobility Institute (TEMI), said: “On behalf of our esteemed panel of judges, I extend our sincerest congratulations to this year’s exceptional finalists. The calibre of entries was truly inspiring, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to safeguarding employee health, safety, security, and wellbeing. These organisations and individuals have set a remarkable standard for Duty of Care. Their achievements serve as a beacon for others, illuminating a path towards a safer and more secure future for workforces globally.”

In 2024, Klüber Lubrication has made significant strides in sustainability in China, helping our customers reduce energy consumption by 55 GWh, equivalent to a decrease of 30,900 tons of CO2 emissions. By replacing traditional lubricants with our efficient products, customers can lower electricity costs, enhance equipment efficiency, and achieve their carbon neutrality goals. Additionally, the CO2 emissions per ton of product from our Qingpu factory have been steadily declining, with a remarkable reduction of 42.1% by 2023, compared with 2018. This ongoing commitment reflects Klüber Lubrication's dedication to continuous improvement in sustainability.
