Munich, September 2010 For sealing systems to do their job reliably, the lubricant used must be compatible with the elastomer material the seal is made of. To ensure that friction and wear are minimised, and the lifetime of components such as bearings and gears maximised, seal and lubricant have to form a functional unit. Simrit und Klüber Lubrication are both affiliates within the Freudenberg Group and have synergised their competences to develop comprehensive solutions aiming at enhancing the reliability and service life of machines and aggregates. This is a major issue in wind power station components such as main, yaw and blade pitch bearings.
Lube & Seal has also brought together the testing expertise of the two Freudenberg companies. Seal and lubricant assemblies are subjected to extensive tests on test rigs or in original components, using both standard testing techniques and dynamic tests tailored to the expected component lifetime and individual operating conditions of the application. Examples are 240-hour tests according to DIN, low-temperature tests and low-temperature torque tests. Friction and temperature are measured directly at the sealing lip. The tests include regular lubricant condition analyses.
With their comprehensive approach, the two Freudenberg companies make sure users obtain sealing systems offering a maximum of reliability and longevity. Lube & Seal solutions can help to reduce development times for new components, providing a competitive edge for manufacturers.
