Environmentally acceptable high-performance grease to extend service life of steel wire ropes

Lubrication with strong anti-wear and anti-corrosive effect

When used for marine and offshore applications, steel wire ropes are often exposed to extreme weather conditions. On ships and offshore rigs, they are bound to come into contact with sea water. In this environment, a lubricant has to fulfill a demanding task: it has to offer not only good adhesiveness and water resistance, but meet all requirements regarding eco-compatibility as well.

Klüber Lubrication has developed the new high-performance grease Klüberbio AM 92-142 to match this kind of application. This EAL (environmentally acceptable lubricant) shows an excellent load-carrying capacity and provides reliable corrosion protection to steel wire ropes that are exposed to sea water. Its excellent anti-wear effect helps extend the service life of steel wire ropes. Due to its outstanding adhesion, water resistance and thermal stability, the new special grease is also highly effective when used in low quantities, which has a welcome effect on costs. Klüberbio AM 92-142 is compatible with galvanised ropes.

This new high-performance EAL was developed in close cooperation with the rope OEM Redaelli Tecna SPA for the initial greasing of steel wire ropes. Redaelli Tecna SPA has issued an approval for Klüberbio AM 92-142 and recommends it also for the relubrication of their ropes.
