Munich, September 23rd, 2014 – Many of the large number of screws found in rail vehicles and their components have a function that is relevant for the vehicle's safety. The friction coefficients permitted in these applications are often required to lie within a narrow range: The standards DIN 25201 "Screw connections for rail vehicles" and VDI 2230 stipulate 0.09 < µ > 0.14.
"Our tried-and-tested assembly grease STABURAGS NBU 30 PTM meets all these requirements, as was confirmed by extensive tests with M 16x 100 – 8.8 screws on our specific test rig," explains Thomas Kamprath, Market Manager Rail at Klüber Lubrication. "For the attainment of the required preload force in a screw connection, the total friction coefficient is a decisive factor," says Kamprath. "Especially for connections that have to be dismantled for inspections, it is important that screws can be undone after long periods of operation. With STABURAGS NBU 30 PTM this is possible because of the product's good resistance to water and media."
These are characteristics of STABURAGS NBU 30 PTM that are particularly in demand in bogie applications. For use in brakes, the product has been approved by Knorr Bremse, the world market leader for railway brake systems. Several other well-known international companies, e.g. Deutsche Bahn, S.N.C.F., SBB, Siemens Mobility, Bombardier Transportation, Alstom Transportation or Stadler Rail also use STABURAGS NBU 30 PTM for screw lubrication.
