Munich, December 2011 - The lifetime of a compressor oil, its tendency to form residues, relubrication intervals, oil vapour in the air - all these factors have a strong impact on the operational reliability as well as the operating costs of compressors. The new compressor oils of the Klüber Summit FG series as well as the Klüber Summit SH series are based on synthetic hydrocarbons. They are highly resistant to oxidation, leading to a clear reduction of residues. Besides longer oil change intervals, this enables longer filter and oil separator lifetimes. A changeover from conventional mineral oil to synthetic compressor oils can therefore lead to a considerable reduction of maintenance and operating costs.
Klüber Summit FG oils were developed specifically for compressors in the food-processing and pharmaceutical industries, where compressed air is expected to be largely oil-free. With their NSF H1 registration and certification according to ISO 21469, these oils support manufacturing plants in the compliance with hygiene requirements. Klüber Summit FG oils show very good resistance to oxidation, which means that the presence of oxidation residues in the compressor is minimised. Oil change intervals can be extended, e.g. up to 5000 operating hours in oil-injected screw-type compressors. Besides reduced maintenance and operating costs, this enables higher operational reliability.
Klüber Summit SH oils were especially developed for the lubrication of heavily loaded air compressors with projected oil change intervals of up to 10,000 operating hours. They are neutral towards most elastomer seals used in air compressors. Special inhibitors keep compressors clean on the inside to prevent cleaning costs and unplanned compressor downtime.
For an easier changeover from mineral-oil-based to fully synthetic Klüber Summit FG or SH oils, Klüber Lubrication offers Klüber Summit Varnasolv, a concentrated conditioner used to dissolve carbon build-up, paint and other sticky residues, unfolding its effect while the compressor is running. The compressor unit does not have to be disassembled for cleaning purposes as all residues are drained off with the old oil. The compressor can then be filled with the new oil without problems.
