Munich, 16 September 2013 - Optimum application of the lubricant without excess lubrication or dropping is what many industries call for, especially in sensitive areas like food processing. With the newly developed Klüberfoam, the lubricant sepcialist Klüber Lubrication took a practical approach to this issue. Klüberfoam is an innovative special lubricant, which combines the excellent lubricating properties of a synthetic lubricating oil with the outstanding application properties of a foam.
The best from two technologies
"Both synthetic oils and foams present particular advantages", explains Jesus Diaz, Market Manager Food Industry at Klüber Lubrication. "Pooling these advantages in one product offers substantial benefits to the food-processing industry." Now as before, synthetic lubricating oils are indispensable in this industry. Their benefits include excellent lubricating properties, penetration and capillary effect as well as adhesion to the lube point. Foams offer particular application-related properties, as the good adhesion of the foam prevents dripping from the lube point. The oil contained in the foam is slowly dispensed to the friction point. Due to the white colour of the foam, already lubricated points are clearly visible at all times.
The new foam ensures that the lubricant stays at the lube point and does not drip off. At the same time, excess lubrication is prevented. Oil is dispensed gradually due to the slow dissolution of the foam and its "conversion" back into oil. Owing to the capillary effect, only the quantity of oil is used which is actually needed, while the remaining oil continues to exist as foam.
"The practical benefit of this new product manifests itself, for example, in the maintenance of chains which are difficult to access", says Jesus Diaz. "Such chains are often lubricated overhead, so the oil is sprayed upwards and dripping off is difficult to avoid. Also, when rotating the chain, it cannot be seen where lubricating oil has already been applied. Our new lubricant foam solves these particular problems."
Klüberfoam is the result of Klüber Lubrication's efficient innovation management, which pools the ideas of users and employees worldwide, checks feasibility of ideas and initiates their implementation.
