It is especially for the lubrication of open pinion drives on large anchor winches and toothed racks of jack-up systems that Klüber Lubrication has developed the adhesive lubricants Klüberbio LG 39-700 N and Klüberbio LG 39-701 N. Lubrication of these heavily loaded components requires a powerful speciality lubricant protecting the drives reliably against wear and corrosion and doing its job even in a saline atmosphere in extreme cold. At the same time, efforts to reduce the impact on the fragile eco-systems of the seas require increasingly eco-friendly lubricants. Klüberbio LG 39-700 N and Klüberbio LG 39-701 N meet these requirements.
"For ship operators and shipowners, these two adhesive lubricants offer considerable advantages," says Dirk Fabry, Business Development Manager for marine lubricants at Klüber Lubrication. "Klüberbio LG 39-700 N and Klüberbio LG 39-701 N enable them to comply with legal water preservation requirements, make an active contribution to protecting the seas while ensuring improved lubrication of very demanding, heavily loaded friction points."
These two EALs (Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants) comply with the requirements defined by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the 2013 Vessel General Permit and additionally all OSPAR requirements including Norway Yellow 1. Klüberbio LG 39-700 N and Klüberbio LG 39-701 N show a very good antiwear and anticorrosive effect also in contact with sea water. Their excellent adhesion keeps lubricant consumption in open pinion drives of large anchor winches and toothed racks in jack-up systems low. These two adhesive lubricants are also ideal for heavily loaded sliding surfaces that are to operate reliably in cold climate zones and ecologically sensitive areas: They offer very good low-temperature behaviour so that they can be pumped and sprayed by automatic lubricating systems even at very cold ambient temperatures. Klüberbio LG 39-700 N and 701 N are being used for the lubrication of open gear drives on AHTS and wind turbine installation ships. Since its market launch, Klüberbio LG 39-701 has been used for lubricating rudder bearings and pod propeller seals.
