History

1929		Theodor Klüber sets up a retailing enterprise for mineral oil products in Munich.
1938		Theodor Klüber establishes a mineral oil processing plant and starts the production of oil mixtures with the trade names Univis Penreco and Permalub.
1941		Theodor Klüber moves his company to the current premises in Geisenhausenerstraße 7. All facilities are completely destroyed in September.
1945		Reconstruction and development of a gas station network in cooperation with DEA.
1950		Production of specialty lubricants starts
1955		Gas station network is dissolved - separation from DEA - specialty lubricants only.
1958		First subsidiary Klüber Lubrication Benelux S.A./N.V. set up in Dottignies, Belgium
1959		Theodor Klüber mineral oil plant becomes Klüber Lubrication
1962		The first production plant abroad is taken into operation in Austria (Salzburg). Klüber Lubrication France SAS is founded in Valence
1966		Takeover by Group, Weinheim

1998		Opening of new research and development center in Munich. Klüber Lubrication India Pvt. Ltd. is founded in Mumbai.

		Internationally, Klüber Lubrication has 1300 employees working in 26 subsidiaries and 14 production plants. The production plants are certified to ISO 9000 worldwide; many KL companies including the Munich headquarters have been validated according to the EC eco-audit directive.
2000		Klüber Lubrication acquires the textile lubricant specialist ITS Industrie-, Textilmaschinen- und Sonderschmierstoffe GmbH & KG with headquarters in Gingen upon Fils in Germany.

		Klüber Lubrication USA extends its existing production facilities and commences grease production.
2001		Klüber Lubrication München KG succeeds in acquiring 5,000 m² of property adjacent to the present site, allowing sufficient space for future development
2002		Klüber Lubrication strengthens its position in the textile industry with the acquisition of Madol^®, the North-American needle and sinker oil manufacturer Klüber Lubrication increases its capital share in the NOK-Klüber Japan joint venture Foundations laid for Klüber’s new Querétaro plant in Mexico. With a capacity of more than 2,000 tons per year, this new plant will strengthen our position in the region
2003		Klüber Lubrication USA in New Hampshire moves to a 3,900 m²building, allowing sufficient space for the ambitious growth planned Klüber Lubrication locations Munich and Salzburg are certified to ISO/TS 16949:2002, the demanding standard of the automotive industry. Foundation stone laid for the new Technology Centre in Munich with a ground area of 13,500 m² Freudenberg Group acquires OKS Spezialschmierstoffe GmbH. 2004		75 years Klüber Lubrication! Since its set-up as a retailer for mineral oil products in 1929, Klüber Lubrication has developed into a world-leading manufacturer of special lubricants. The six storied building with 14.000 m² useable floor space was erected in just 18 months and provides the foundation stone for continuous growth at the traditional headquarters. Setting-up of Freudenberg Chemical Specialities KG based in Munich as a new business group within the Freudenberg Group, consisting of Klüber Lubrication München KG, Chem-Trend, Howell, Michigan, USA and OKS Spezialschmierstoffe GmbH, also based in Munich.
2005		May 7th, 2005. 100th birthday of company founder Theodor Klüber. Business operation started on 1 January 2005 with the aim of optimizing customer services in the biggest market of the Klüber group. Freudenberg Chemical Specialities KG gives the go-ahead for building a production plant for special lubricants and die release agents in Shanghai Qingpu Industrial Zone. As of 2007 it will serve the particular requirements of the Chinese market with speciality lubricants made by Klüber. With Lube & Seal the two world market leaders in sealing technology and specialty lubricants Simrit and Klüber have combined their core competences in the field of seals and speciality lubricants in order to offer your customers the highest quality solutions specifically tuned to their requirements.
2006		Klüber Lubrication OOO is founded in Moscow, Russia, with branch offices in St. Petersburg, Rostov-na-Donu, Samara, Kazan. Opening of Representative Office in Jakarta/Indonesia.
2007		Foundation of Klüber Lubrication (Thailand) Co., Ltd. in Bangkok, Thailand. Opening of a Representative Office in Taipeh/Taiwan.
