A gigantic barrier is completed in the Oosterschelde to protect the Netherlands against spring tides. It consists of 62 weirs set up over a stretch of 2.8 kilometres. All bearings in the hydraulic cylinders weighing 140 tons each are lubricated by a special grease made by Klüber. This ensures reliable functioning in stormy weather.

14,000 km traversing the desert: the two 180 hp Unimog trucks of the KL Capito team make it all the way from Paris to Dakar - arriving undamaged and victorious! This was a great success for the rally teams and the Klüber development department since the Unimog trucks were virtually Klüber test labs on wheels. The multiple-spline clutch, for instance, was fitted with a special grease preventing the much-dreaded fretting corrosion. A newly developed high-temperature special grease was used for the cardan shafts.

For improved safety and eco-friendliness, today's motor vehicles are frequently equipped with four-wheel drive, catalytic converters and even fully enclosed engines. With these designs higher temperatures often occur and Klüber is prepared.

So even if your car is not on a desert mission - functional reliability tested under extreme conditions allows Klüber to guarantee problem-free operation in everyday life.

Despite some obvious advantages, the oil mist lubrication used for spindle bearings in slab grinding machines proved to be unreliable and uneconomical. Bearing damage could not be reliably prevented and the oil mist also affected environmental and workplace conditions.

These problems were solved by switching to Klüber's high-speed grease ISOFLEX NBU 15: No more bearing damage due to starved lubrication! After 18 months of operation both the grease and the bearings were in optimum condition.

The know-how gained in this application can be fully transferred to lifetime lubrication of high-speed rolling bearings in similar applications.
