Reorganisation of the substance policy in Europe

REACH means thoroghly new rules for the substance policy in Europe:

	Besides the immanent characteristics of the substances, their uses are also considered.
	The regulation not only considers the first-time introduction into the market, but the entire value added chain.
	Uses and measures of risk minimisation for safe handling are described in extended safety data sheets.
	Users are obliged to inform the producer on any as yet unregistered applications.
	The knowledge of the parties involved throughout the value added chain of a substance (from production to use up to recycling and disposal) is pooled with the particular objective of improving the communication in the supply chain notably.
	Both the introducers and the users of substances are required to perform their own risk management.
	With REACH, many companies are facing new tasks and challenges. These affect not only the chemical sector, but many other areas of industry, trade, importers and customers as well.
