The lubricant as a factor in environmental management
Guidelines on the appropriate handling of lubricants for the improvement of environmental protection:
- Emissions, controlled and uncontrolled, into the atmosphere can be prevented by using solvent-free lubricants.
- Controlled or uncontrolled discharge of lubricants into the sewage system is not permissible. Emulsions may be discharged into the sewage system provided the relevant authorities grant permission.
- For solid and other waste, in particular hazardous waste, the guidelines for the disposal of lubricants must be observed.
- When the contamination of soil and water cannot be excluded, use only rapidly biodegradable lubricants.
- Emission of heat, noise, smell, dust, vibrations and optical effects affecting certain areas of our environment and ecological systems can be reduced by using appropriate lubricants.
- Waste prevention should always take priority over waste generation and disposal.
