Do you remember the fire disaster at the King's Cross St. Pancras tube station in London, which killed so many people in 1987? An escalator had caught fire. It is therefore not surprising that Flender, one of the world's major gear manufacturers, and the lift and escalator maker Schindler are looking for a partner to supply a current project with lubricants that work reliably also under high loads and under changing operating temperatures, and which helps to prevent lubricant leakage.
Heat, dirt, poor ventilation: the gearbox of a subway escalator has every reason to complain about bad working conditions! But thousands of passengers want to be carried up or down, expecting continuous convenient service without interruption.
